March in Pennsylvania is Not Awesome. It’s rainy. So very rainy. You know how everyone thinks Seattle is the rainiest place in the country? It isn’t. Harrisburg isn’t either, but we get on average an inch more a year than Seattle. And this year, it’s been about 10 degrees cooler than average on top of the rain. This means that the girls and I are having some serious cabin fever right now. If the day has been moderately warm, we’ve been outside as much as possible, but that opportunity has only come up once a week for the last 4 weeks in a row.
I’ve been desperately trying to figure out how to get some Spring into our home, but we currently have two daffodils in bloom outside, and I have yet to find any decorations that I like enough to buy. While surfing the web this last weekend, I found this post on Made, where they created a paper butterfly sanctuary. Ella has been very irritated that I don’t have a craft for her to do EVERY DAY, especially when we are stuck inside, so this would solve at least one day of What To Do, and give our house some bright decorations.
We spent all morning, and part of the afternoon cutting, gluing, glittering, and pasting. Of course we couldn’t just stick to butterflies when we have a Ladybug in our house, and then Ella and I decided we needed flowers and dragonflies too. Oh how I love the way this turned out! What a fantastic idea, and we can do it all over next Spring – a new tradition for sure.
