I really didn’t want to title this We Are The Champions – so cliche’ – so in case you didn’t get the reference (which I totally stole from an exchange I had on Facebook with a friend of a cousin) and you don’t watch sports (mostly everyone in my family) – we won! The Pack took down the Steelers in a game that had me screaming, cringing, jumping, and clutching my chest in both fear and hope.
The party with Our Friends was fun and full of laughter and good food – but that was expected – it is, after all, why we are friends. Before they came over though, there was prep to be done.
The family donned their Packer gear and the girls attended a pep-session with Momma to get those endorphins flowing.
Brats were cooked to perfection and a special topping of green and gold peppers were sauteed with onions to make a mouth-watering main course.
Once the game started, everyone was enthralled. Everyone. No one took their eyes off the TV for a second.
Fine. But her heart was in it. And we won. And all that frustration from the years of not winning? It was washed away. All that remained was love.
