The past two weeks have been busy here at The Schroeder House – Tom’s sister (along with her youngest daughter and her sister-in-law) came visiting for a long weekend, and then two days later, my sister Kari and her son Will came to stay for a week. Lots of visiting and exploring ensued.
With Terri, we hit Philadelphia (or, as Ella calls it – Philly-a-delphia) for a historical tour. We saw buildings like this:
We took a break to get wiggles out.
Tom explained the Liberty Bell.
We had a seperate tour of Independence Hall, with the World’s Loudest Tour Guide.
Which was informative and interesting, but not as fun as being silly on the steps outside.
After a brief drive-by of the museum steps where fans can pay tribute to Rocky, we took our place in line at Pat’s, preparing for The Great Cheesesteak Showdown.
Terri and Alicia got samples from the competition across the street.
This was serious business.
In the end, Pat’s won and is Justice Girl-verified as the King of Steaks (at least of the cheese-variety). We spent the rest of our time with Terri laying around on couches, digesting. Well – until it was time to eat again (homemade baklava from your Greek friend is not to be passed by just because you can’t button your pants anymore).
Monday morning we waved goodbye to the Wisconsin crew after hugs and lots of kisses for the baby. I turned around, went inside, and sat down for five minutes. Then it was back to work to prep for our second wave of company.
