Today was a tiny bit insane. It started with a final attempt to get the house ready for our visitors (my sister and her son are visiting from Utah for a week) and then to keep the house clean, because a Particular Someone kept dragging out every single toy they own into every room of the house. Then we got stuck in some seriously annoying Philly traffic on the way to the airport, followed by my bad navigation skills which took me on the loop around the airport 3 times before I managed to pick Kari and Will up, and then eventually make it into downtown Philly. Trader Joe’s was not that crowded, so you’d think it would be the least insane part of the trip – except I have a 2 year old who likes to make things difficult by screaming so loud and so long that one of the checkout clerks literally ran to us with a sheet full of stickers, attempting to bribe The Child to shut her trap. It worked. For about 10 seconds. We did end up with two bags full of completely unnecessary, but delicious and/or fun things, which almost made up for the screaming. Almost.
On the way home, The Other Child decided to scream. And scream. And scream. I almost pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway just to see if I could make her stop SCREAMING by sticking a boob in her mouth. Eventually though she seemed satisfied with a binky, and we made it home minutes before Tom arrived with pizza. Follow that with two kids chasing Porter until he was exhausted, giggling and screaming the entire time.
We did finally manage to get everyone calmed down, and Will even helped me sing Ella her bedtime song. He went to bed with his mom not long after, and I managed to squeeze one last thing into my day:
I only had to rip out one seam, and uttered a maximum of 3 curse words. I’d say it lived up the the “Easy” claim on the pattern. The main fabric was my Mother’s Day gift, from my mom (yes, she gets us gifts – she’s awesome like that). The contrasting fabric was some I already had in my stash. After our visitors have left, I’m planning on making Sophie a summer outfit with the same fabrics.
I’m putting it out where she can find it in the morning – I’m anxious to see what she thinks.
